RotaPlanner Update: October 2026
This month's release introduces history tracking with undo support for rota changes, improves calendar navigation and shift conflict detection, refines calendar performance, and updates our subscription tiers.
Undo Rota Changes with New History Feature
A dedicated history feature has been introduced to the schedule management interface.
Users can now revert complex changes made across rotas directly from the application. This allows multi-shift adjustments or unintended modifications to be undone without requiring manual recalculation or re-entry. Access to undo actions is linked to subscription tier settings, and messaging within the application clearly reflects these requirements when managing changes.
Calendar Usability and Shift Validation Updates
Several enhancements have been made to navigation flow and schedule validation on the main calendar:
- Session Date Persistence: The rota calendar now retains the currently selected date range throughout an active browsing session. Navigating to other areas of the application—such as booking employee leave—and returning to the calendar view no longer resets the display back to the default date.
- Expanded Shift Conflict Validation: The shift error validation system on the calendar now evaluates minimum consecutive rest hours across all locations. It also analyses shifts occurring immediately before and after the visible date window. This ensures that scheduling errors reflect complete context, preventing rest-period breaches that span across calendar view boundaries or separate work sites.
These updates assist managers when building your rota by ensuring shift constraints remain accurate and date contexts are preserved.
Main Calendar Performance
Targeted performance adjustments have been applied to the primary calendar view. Loading and interacting with the main rota grid, filters, and scheduled shift summaries now operate with greater responsiveness across day, week, and custom range views.
Subscription Tier Updates
RotaPlanner has discontinued the Free plan tier. Organisations configuring new accounts or adjusting their service options can select from our paid tiers, which provide full scheduling functionality and support via the Billing management section.
