RotaPlanner Update: March 2026

The March update to RotaPlanner introduces several changes to reporting accuracy, leave management controls, and shift validation logic. These updates are designed to provide clearer data for payroll and prevent scheduling conflicts.

Enhanced Reporting and Exports

A new custom PDF export option is now available for rotas. This format ensures that the rota is scaled correctly to fit within the page boundaries when exported or printed.

The Hours & Payroll report, accessible via the 'Time worked' section, has been updated with additional data columns:

Granular Leave Management

Updates to leave management provide more flexibility when restricting time-off requests. When blocking specific date ranges to prevent staff from booking leave, users can now select specific locations for the block. This allows leave to be restricted at one site during busy periods while remaining available for staff at other locations.

Shift Assignment and Validation

The shift assignment process now includes real-time validation to prevent scheduling errors. The interface displays specific error messages in the following scenarios:

The minimum rest period is a configurable setting found in the ‘Configure’ section of the application. The display of errors for candidate assignments has also been updated to improve clarity when selecting staff for a shift.

User Interface Improvements

The dashboard now includes system messages to notify users of new functionality and updates. These notifications are intended to provide information on changes directly within the application interface.
